CATALOGUE RAISONNÉ 2000-10
Carl Mehrbach continued to explore representational and figurative art. These are years full of joy instigated by his great competence. Mehrbach continued to balance multiple activities: he taught, he nurtured young adult children through college and into careers. Mehrbach will forever question the profound influence of his mentor, Philip Guston. In these years Mehrbach's work are profoundly different than Guston's, although similar in their mix of humor and social perception. Unbeknown to Mehrbach was the summative power he brought to this period of his life and work. In his next period Mehrbach will move quickly toward the great work he is doing now, which is abstract, emotionally and intellectual representational while considered non-representational in nature.
