CATALOGUE RAISONNÉ 1992-99
In these years Carl Mehrbach returned to representational and figurative art-making. Perhaps the most difficult years in Carl Mehrbach's life, he was required to balance multiple activities. Mehrbach made and taught art, he nurtured children through grade school and through college. Here we see Mehrbach question the profound influence of his mentor, Philip Guston. The works in this period released Mehrbach's pent-up need to self-examine figurative art. Catharsis is the result. This represents seventeen years of his activity.
